A Usual Week

So last week was another usual week. It's kind of slowing down a bit because there aren't as many reports coming in. I have memorized a few more codes but other than that I haven't really learned anything new yet. I still haven't worked up the nerve to make phone calls to victims but I still have 3 more weeks so hopefully I can try to at least once. I did fill out more applications for victims and learn the process of how a victim is accepted and then what would be included in their folder. I think for the rest of my internship I really won't be doing anything different than I already have been but I am still enjoying it.

Two weeks ago I went to a meeting with the heads of the departments involved in Victim Services. We actually went over a case and what actions to take, which was pretty cool. Then we went to the forensics lab and had a presentation on how they process in a case. It was pretty eye opening and I was shell- shocked on how in detail she went about how the processing of evidence in a sexual assault case. After the presentation, we got a tour of the lab. We saw the ballistics department, drug processing department, alcohol processing department and many other departments. Overall it was pretty cool and very educational experience.
