What do I wish I knew?
Hi Everyone!
It's hard to blog when i'm already done with my internship! I really miss being in the classroom and teaching the kids! So, for my answer to Kristi's question, I really wish I knew in the beginning of my internship how to solve big conflicts between students. When it came to solving bigger conflicts between students, at first I would get flustered and didn't know what to do and would pass the problem on to one of the head teachers. As the summer went on, after watching the head teachers, I decided to follow their example and give it a try. It may have not gone as well as I wanted it to, but I was proud that I was able to teach the kids something new. I still have a lot to improve on, but I am no longer afraid to solve problems. I really am glad that I was able to watch exceptional teachers and follow their lead while getting their support. As for a message for the next intern, I would tell them not to be afraid of conflicts. Just think about it as another opportunity to teach the students something new and that it will get better in time. I like to see it as a learning opportunity for everyone.
